The Premier’s Reading Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for enjoyment and enrichment in students, and enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student - to read, to read more and to read more widely.
The Challenge involves nearly 400,000 students and more than 2,600 government, non-government and home schools. The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge booklists open doors to a rich collection of children’s literature representing a range of books including fiction, non-fiction, picture books, poetry and drama, and include a wide variety of Australian authors.
The 2020 PRC opens for student entries on 2 March. You can find more information on the PRC website:
Check out our Author and Illustrator Showcases, where we bring you conversations with some of the best authors and illustrators in the business! Check out the links to the left of the page. The 2019 showcase features Australian and International authors in conversation the the Sydney Writers' Festival, and there are sessions suitable for both primary and high school audiences.
Missed Validation? If you have a completed Student Reading Record from previous years that has not been validated, please email the PRC team ASAP with details of the records to be validated. If you have INCOMPLETE entries that require additional book entries and validation, you are required to complete the Post-Challenge Validation process. This requires Principal application and authorisation.
