As part of the Department's ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to cancel the State Choir for 2020 to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, families and audiences. Music is sent to students to prepare before the first rehearsal. The choir meets to rehearse in Sydney before performing on the concert hall stage of the Sydney Opera House as part of the Festival of Choral Music.
