Teachers are to nominate students for one event only.  Teachers are asked to select highly competent and motivated students only for these high profile work placements.

In 2015 we had a vast number of students withdraw from work placements very close to the events.  In 2016 we will be allocating one school per event (with the exception of Schools Spectacular).  This will allow VET Entertainment teachers to more closely monitor their students’ attendance at work placement.  Should a student withdraw from the allocated event it will be the VET Entertainment Teacher’s responsibility to replace that student with another suitable student from their school wherever possible.  Schools who continue to withdraw from events without adequate notice will jeopardise future participation by their school in The Arts Unit Work Placement program.

Students will gain practical experience as an active participant of a diverse and experienced team comprising of industry professionals and NSW Department of Education teachers. This opportunity will become a valuable and authentic work environment for students to complete work placement hours.

Nominated students should have a solid skill set with the demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, autonomously and under pressure.

Students should be:

  • Aware of safety and WHS requirements relating to events and live production
  • Courteous
  • Diligent
  • Dressed appropriately in event attire and well groomed
  • Enthusiastic
  • Friendly
  • Highly motivated
  • Punctual
  • Respectful of staff and participants
  • Responsible and trustworthy
  • Willing to learn new skills

Students will be required to work the full designated hours of the event which includes early mornings and late evenings.

Teachers are asked to select highly competent and motivated students.

VET Entertainment teachers are required to complete the Nomination Form here.  Upon completion of the Nomination Form please download the attached Work Placement Student Nomination Form (see bottom of this page) and complete and email to by Tuesday 31 May 2016.

Please note that the more detailed you can be regarding your students on the Student Nomination Form the more likely we are to be able to provide placements that best suit your students abilities and interests.

An Information Package for accepted students with parent and school approval forms will be forwarded to VET - Entertainment teachers upon the school’s acceptance in late June 2016.
