Expressions of Interest are sought for Public School choirs, combined school choirs and community choirs to participate in an exciting opportunity on Australia Day 2018!
The Australia Day Council of NSW, in conjunction with The Arts Unit, are calling NSW Public School choirs and community choirs to participate in an exciting ceremonial moment on Australia Day 2018. This is a great chance to join the Governor of NSW in singing the national anthem and a special occasion song at the Salute to Australia on Thursday 26 January 2018 at locations around Sydney Harbour.
The Salute to Australia involves the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air force conducting a tri-service salute from Bradfield Park, and HMAS Adelaide positioned in Sydney Cove between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. It is a special occasion for students, teachers and members of the wider community to share in.
The event will have a shore audience of tens of thousands of people who will be encouraged to sing the anthem along with the selected choirs. It is also anticipated to gain significant media interest! A fantastic way to showcase Public School students and school choirs!
A rehearsal will be held on January 25 in Sydney in preparation for the event on January 26, 2018.
Organisation is also underway for NSW Public School choirs to feature in the Australia Day Evening Program 'Live at the Quay'. Details of involvement in this part of the event will be made available once it is confirmed. Please complete the expression of interest form below. We look forward to sharing this exciting event with you!
Applications close November 27, 2017.
