LightsUP Drama Festival is a youth festival showcasing school groups and individual drama pieces from Kindergarten to Year 12 students in NSW public schools. 

Schools are invited to submit drama items for audition for the LightsUP Drama Festival.

 

2022

Performance date: Friday 24 June (Term 2 Week 9) at 7 pm.

Technical rehearsals will take place from 9 am to 4 pm on the day of the performance.

Criteria for selection

  • Performance length should not exceed 10 minutes (primary) and 12 minutes (secondary)
  • Appeal to a varied audience
  • Demonstrated excellence in performance skills
  • Use of minimal scenery and props
  • Reflection of current syllabus outcomes
  • Suitability for performance in the selected venue to an audience that may include students from Kindergarten to Year 12
  • Performance rights for any music or drama pieces must be organised by the school.

Audition

Audition videos must be uploaded to YouTube and the video link included in the Google Form nomination. It is important that ample time is spent rehearsing, recording and reviewing the performance video.

Audition tips

  • Ensure that the video is of sufficient high quality to allow the panel to view the details of your work and your performers.
  • Cover any windows or doors in the room where the audition is being filmed, so that light from outside doesn’t interfere with the visual contrast in the film.
  • It is important that all students are able to be viewed in the film.
  • Ensure your audition video is within the time frame outlines in the requirements above

Cost

$10 per student, per performance payable by schools.
