State Drama Ensemble

The 2019 NSW Public Schools State Drama Ensemble provides students from Years 9-11 with the opportunity to develop a work for a performance at the State Drama Festival in October. Places in this Ensemble are open to talented students who are currently attending a NSW public school.

Audition Information & Application Forms

Applications will open 1 June 2019
1. Online Application Form
2. Endorsement Form
3. Submit an Audition Film of yourself performing a 2 minute monologue of your own choice.
4. Provide a Head Shot (school photo or passport)

The Selection Panel will meet to view all Audition Films on Wednesday 14 August 2019, nominations will be notified via email after this date.

Workshops:
There will be 2 intensive compulsory mid-week workshops held at The Arts Unit in Lewisham to develop new work that will be performed at the 2019 State Drama Festival (24 & 25 October):-
No 1: Term 3 - Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October 2019 (inclusive); 9am-4pm
No 2: Term 4 - Wednesday 23 to Thursday 24 October 2019 (inclusive)

Performance Opportunities:
Students will perform at the State Drama Festival held at the Seymour Centre, Chippendale:-
• Thursday 24 October - 7.30pm
• Friday 25 October - 11am & 7.30pm

Student Requirements:
• Priority will be given to students from rural and remote schools.
• Students in metropolitan schools who DO NOT currently attend a Weekly Drama Ensemble will also be able to audition.

Fees:
The ensemble fees cover the hire of regular tutors and industry professionals for intensive workshopping, a Drama Ensemble t-shirt, and the sourcing and supply of costumes for the State Drama Festival. Students will need to cover the cost of their own travel and/or accommodation if needed. All prices include GST:-

Rural and Remote Subsidy:
As part of The Arts Unit's support of the Department of Education Rural and Remote Education blueprint for action, we are excited to be able to offer a discounted rate (as above) to students from rural and remote schools to attend the State Drama Ensemble. Please note: If interest exceeds available funds, allocation of the Participation Subsidy will be prioritised based on remoteness. Successful subsidies will be confirmed with acceptance notification.
