The commencement of the 2021 drama programs will be contingent on advice provided by the NSW Department of Education in consultation with NSW Health.

Activities for all programs currently have to adhere to current DoE COVID-19 restrictions

 

2021 State Drama Ensembles

The 2021 NSW Public Schools State Drama Ensemble provides students from Years 9-11 with the opportunity to develop a work for performance at the State Drama Festival in October. Places in this Ensemble are open to talented students who are currently attending a NSW public school.

Dates

Workshops:
There will be 2 intensive compulsory devising workshops held at The Arts Unit in Lewisham to develop new work that will be filmed and/or performed at the 2021 State Drama Festival :-
No 1: Term 3 School Holidays | Monday 27 September to Friday 1 October 2021 (inclusive); 10am-4pm
No 2: Term 4 Wednesday 20 to Thursday 21 October 2021 (inclusive)

Performance Opportunities:
Students will perform for filming and/ or at the State Drama Festival held at the Seymour Centre, Chippendale:-
• Thursday 21 October - 7.30pm
• Friday 22 October - 11am & 7.30pm

Fees:
The ensemble fees cover the hire of regular tutors and industry professionals for intensive workshopping, a Drama Ensemble t-shirt, and the sourcing and supply of costumes for the State Drama Festival. Students will need to cover the cost of their own travel and/or accommodation if needed. All prices include GST:-
Metropolitan/Non Metro  $375
Rural & Remote               $280

Applications 
Applications will open in June 2021 and close in August 2021.
The Selection Panel will meet to view all Audition Films in August 2021, nominations will be notified via email after this date.

Student Requirements:
• Priority will be given to students from rural and remote schools.
• Students in metropolitan schools who do not currently attend a Weekly Drama Ensemble will also be able to audition.

Rural and Remote Subsidy:
We are able to offer a 25% subsidy to students from rural and remote schools to attend the State Drama Ensemble.
