State Dance Ensembles

Audition Information

All nominations will need to submit the following by Applications are now CLOSED:-
1. Application & Endorsement Form please click on the link.
3. Audition Film performing 2 contrasting solo dance items no less than 1 minute in length.
4. Headshot (school photo or passport).

Selection Panel will view all Audition Films on Monday 6 May 2019, all students/parents will be emailed after this date the outcome of their audition.

Rehearsal Workshops

There will be 4 intensive compulsory weekend workshops held in Sydney:-
No 1: Term 2 - Fri 5, Sat 6 & Sun 7 July | AMPA Dance Studios, Alexandria
No 2: Term 2 - Sat 27 & Sun 28 July | AMPA Dance Studios, Alexandria
No 3: Term 3 - Wed 11 & Thu 12 Sept | Dance Central, Chippendale
To rehearse new work specifically commissioned for the ensemble and perform at the State Dance Festival.
No 4: Term 4 - Sun 17 & Mon 18 Nov | Venue TBC
To rehearse new work specifically commissioned for the ensemble and perform at the Schools Spectacular.

Performance Opportunities

• State Dance Festival: 11-13 September 2019 | Seymour Centre, Chippendale
All ensemble students will participate in 1 technical rehearsal and 2 performances (matinee and evening) during Festival week. Students and parents will be emailed closer to time what day they will be rehearsing/performing.

• Schools Spectacular: 22-23 November 2019 | Qudos Bank Arena, Olympic Park Homebush
All ensemble students will participate in rehearsals in the weeks prior to Spec and will be required to dance in all 4 performances (matinee and evening). Students and parents will be emailed closer to time a schedule of their rehearsal times in November.

Fees

Metro/Non Metro Students $580.00 (incl GST)
Rural & Remote Students   $300.00 (incl GST)
This fee covers studio hire, regular tutors and industry professionals for intensive workshopping and performance levy; as well as costumes for Stage Dance Festival and Schools Spectacular. Students may purchase an Ensembles Jacket $60 and/or a Training Singlet $20 if desired (not mandatory). You will need to cover the costs of your own travel and accommodation if needed.

Rural and Remote Subsidy

As part of The Arts Unit's support of the Department of Education's Rural and Remote Education blueprint for action, we are excited to be able to offer a Participation Subsidy of $300.00 (including GST) to students from rural and remote schools to attend the State Dance Ensemble. Please note: if interest exceeds available funds, allocation of the Participation Subsidy will be prioritised based on remoteness. Successful subsidies will be confirmed with acceptance notification.
