Learning intentions

Firebird Forensics is a dance resource designed for students in Stages 4 and 5. Students will use a stimulus as a starting point for dance composition and explore the elements of dance to communicate the idea of a Firebird.  

Your students will:

  • explore the elements of dance in relation to a stimulus
  • improvise by manipulating movement using a range of compositional tools
  • refine movement to communicate an idea
  • create a phrase of movement that is reflective of their own personal style
  • compose and perform their movement sequence
  • reflect on their composition.

Stage 4

  • 4.2.1: a student identifies and explores aspects of the elements of dance in response to a range of stimuli.
  • 4.2.2: a student composes dance movement, using the elements of dance, that communicates ideas.

Stage 5

  • 5.2.1: a student explores the elements of dance as the basis of the communication of ideas.
  • 5.2.2: a student composes and structures dance movement that communicates an idea.
