Audition Requirements

Auditions for 2017 are now CLOSED

Membership is by audition and open to all students from Years 10, 11 & 12 in 2017 currently attending public schools in NSW. For further information of what is required at audition, please click on the link Audition Requirements.

Audition Dates

  • Open Auditions: Tuesday 29 OR Wednesday 30 November 2016; 4.30-7.00pm (for new students)
  • Callback Auditions: Year 11 Monday 5 December 2016; 4.30-7.00pm (Senior Ensemble)
                                     Year 10 Tuesday 6 December 2016; 4.30-7.00pm (Year 10 Ensemble)
                                     Year 12 Wednesday 7 December 2016; 4.30-7.00pm (Drama Company)

How to Apply

New Students: Please complete the Audition Booking Form AND the Endorsement Form
Returning Students: Please complete the Endorsement Form

  • New students (and their parents/schools) will be emailed of their audition date for those selected for audition
  • Returning students go straight to Callback Audition (ie they do not need to attend the first audition date)
  • Forms received after FRIDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2016 will not be accepted
  • A maximum of 12 nominations will be accepted from any one school

Weekly Rehearsal Times

If you are successful in obtaining a position to the Drama Ensembles program, a full commitment to the year must be made. Successful students will attend weekly rehearsals at The Arts Unit:-
  • Drama Company: Every Monday & Wednesday 4.30-7.00pm during school term
        First Meeting: Wednesday 15 February 2017
  • Senior Ensemble: Every Wednesday 5.00-7.00pm during school term
        First Meeting: Wednesday 15 February 2017
  • Year 10 Drama Ensemble: Every Wednesday 5.00-7.00pm during school term
        First Meeting: Wednesday 15 February 2017

Performance Opportunities

  • Drama Company: Will perform a new play commissioned by playwright Lachlan Philpott and performed in 1 season of 3 performances at The Seymour Centre (15-16 June)
  • Senior & Year 10 Ensembles: Will participate in the State Drama Festival at The Seymour Centre (26-27 October)
  • Selected students may perform in other high profile events such as performing in the annual Schools Spectacular or being comperes for the Music Concerts (The Sydney Opera House and The Sydney Town) as well as State Dance Festival (The Seymour Centre).


Fees cover hire of regular tutors and industry professionals for intensive workshopping, a Drama Ensemble t-shirt, and the sourcing and supply of costumes from NIDA graduate designers for the State Drama Festival. Students will need to cover the costs of their own travel and accommodation if needed. All prices include GST:-
  • Drama Company - $325
  • Senior Ensemble - $380
  • Year 10 Ensemble - $380
