How to get involved
The Visual Arts Student Workshops offer an intensive one day program for stage 5 and 6 students with a keen interest in Visual Arts, Design and Photomedia. The workshops provide an opportunity for students to experience a range of materials and techniques under the guidance of practicing Visual arts teachers, artists and gallery staff. The workshops are coordinated by the Department of Education, The Arts Unit in association with ARTEXPRESS.

Workshops commence at 9.30am and conclude at 3:00pm.
Government Schools: $40 excluding GST per student
Non- Government Schools: $80 excluding GST per student
As part of The Arts Unit's support of the Department of Education Rural and Remote Education blueprint for action, we are excited to be able to offer a Participation Subsidy of $20 to students from NSW Department of Education rural and remote schools to attend an ARTEXPRESS Student Workshop. Please note: If interest exceeds available funds, allocation of the Participation Subsidy will be prioritised based on remoteness. Subsidies will be confirmed with acceptance notification.
All materials will be provided. The cost does not include student travel or meals. A 50% cancellation fee will be payable if an accepted participant withdraws from the workshop less than one week from its commencement. There will be no refunds given due to student illness or misadventure.
How to apply
1. Register online as a contact teacher for your school.
2. Download the Student Consent and Nomination Form located at the bottom of this page. Send this form to each parent that has a student enrolling in the workshop.
3. Arrange parents/ guardians to sign the consent and publicity sections of the form and return to the contact teacher.
4. Arrange for your principal to sign the School Acceptance section of the consent form.
5. Return all signed documentation to email@example.com one week before workshop date.
Government schools will automatically be direct debited for this amount once they submit the application form. Please advise your School Administrative Manager that this will occur. Non-government schools will receive an email with payment advice.
